Applicant Requirements
- All FSBR dogs are INDOOR ONLY.
- If you own pets now, they MUST be spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccines, in good standing with your vet reference, on monthly Heartworm Prevention, and be kept as indoor dogs as well.
- You must not have been convicted or charged with any animal abuse or neglect cases. Neither can anyone living in your household.
- You must understand that these dogs are rescues, we do not know their past or what has happened to them. We just know their present, their current temperments, physical conditions, etc. There are many things that could have happened to these dogs in their past life so you must agree to protect and care for these dogs at all times and also to give them ample time to adjust to your home and family.
Adoption Procedures
Applications are accepted from families throughout lower VA , all of NC and SC ONLY. Your application will be acknowledged when it is received by an email from us. This way you know that we have it! If you have not received an email from us within 24 hours please resubmit your application as it means we don't have it.

Applications will be looked over to ensure there are no questions or automatic red flags, example your dog is not neutered, not an indoor dog, etc. If there are any questions you will be contacted. If there are no questions your application will proceed to number 2, reference checks.
- Reference Checks - All references will be checked prior to home visit. We will contact your current vet, if you have one, for a reference. PLEASE NOTIFY ALL REFERENCES THAT YOU HAVE APPLIED, YOUR APPLICATION CANNOT PROGRESS PAST THIS STAGE IF REFERENCES ARE NOT REACHED!
- Home Visit - A volunteer will come to your home to visit with you and discuss care of Boxers. Also, the volunteer will look for any potential problems and check to be sure that your fencing is secure (if applicable). Your home visit does not mean you have been approved.
- Approval - After the above steps have been completed all your information will be reviewed and a decision will be made about adoption. If at this point you are approved to adopt, an adoption coordinator will help guide you to the appropriate dog for your family.
- Contract - For the protection of the Boxers we place, everyone that adopts a Boxer from FSBR will be required to sign an adoption contract along with paying the adoption fee. Adoption fees are only accepted in the forms of cash, money order, or cashiers check due to some unfortunate instances, we are no longer able to accept personal checks. If you would like additional information on our adoption contract, prior to application submission, please use the contact page to request and a copy of our contract will be sent to you electronically.
The DOGS in our rescue are our top priority and therefore we will not make exceptions to our policies lightly or easily.
