$300 Adoption Fee
Roscoe is an English Bulldog/ Boxer Mix that came to us because his family had given up on his chronic health problems, and was going to have him euthanized but when they learned FSBR was willing to help him they surrendered him to us to give him a chance for a renewed start. In his first year of life, he had constant trouble with his eyes and with allergies. He had entropion surgery to correct his eyes but has some cornea scarring although it does not affect his sight. We immediately started him on a simple ingredient diet and addressed his allergies. He had many contact allergies, and they were causing severe itching and irritation. He has done very well on a perscriptipn allergy mediation Atopica, and antihistimines as needed, and after a month of more drugs and antibiotics getting him for the most part cleared up, he is on about $150 per month of meds to maintain his current state of doing well. We hope to wean that down to an every other day dose for half that cost, but there are no guarantees. He will need what is best for him. The person wanting to adopt Roscue must be willing to take on his care and his meds. This would include a simple ingredient diet as suggested and keeping up with his allergy medications as well as eye drops. He is not and will not be a low maintenance dog, but in return he is a wonderul dog. He has a beautiful spirit, gets along well with other dogs and he loves people!!! He is a good snuggler, he loves toys, and he loves to ride in the car......he is a complete sweetheart!!!!
Roscoe has been in rescue several weeks but we have allowed him some time to adjust to his care, and for his allergies to become manageable. He will continue daily Atopica until sometime in July and our hope is to reduce the dose, however he will remain on the Atopica, and we cannot guarantee he can tolerate lowering his dose with the same results. Atopica will allow him to lead a happy life without the itching and side effects of allergies.
We will update Roscoe's care as more information becomes available.
